Oneil Cruz dazzled in the HR Derby last night, including a homer that went 513 feet. Poni is in semi-freak-out mode that people are overreacting to what Cruz did in an exhibition/glorified batting practice. He claimed he enjoyed watching Cruz put on a show even though he didn’t want him to do well. Poni attacked Jeff Hathhorn for suggesting the Pirates should sign Cruz long-term after last night. The guys revisited a thought yesterday – what if Cruz has a 30 HR, 50 SB season despite otherwise lackluster numbers? The conversation turned to Bryan Reynolds and the disappointing season he is putting together. Is the idea of Oneil Cruz being the highest-paid Pirates player ever as ridiculous as it sounds?
