Have a good understanding of your customer’s day to day experience. If you don’t put in the time to establish a good relationship with a customer then someone else could swoop in and take them from you.  If you're putting information out into the world that is relevant to your audience, they're going to come to you. A plan can sound really good on paper but without a proper execution it fizzles out.  Understanding why a customer is upset and being empathetic towards them will help you find a solution.
