Our lead hobbit hears a battle song and realizes he’s about to live his own little tune when the group reaches Gondor – where everyone might die! Tolkien shocks us both when he abandons nature and description in favor of largely unknown character. Everyone in every storyline agrees that Aragorn is the new Gandalf the Grey.
