In an occasional series the Ballad of Bedfordshire looks at the rich heritage of that county through spoken word and folk music. From the early 20th Century Brickmaking was a major industry in Bedfordshire. There were many factories in Marston Vale, at its peak the Stewartby site was actually the world’s biggest brick factory. David Szymanski is a man steeped in the history of the industry. Growing up in Stewartby he joined London Brick from university as an engineer and rose through the ranks.
