This episode with Marcus Williams was powerful! Marcus played professional basketball in the NBA and China before retiring to spend more time with his children. His turning point came when he told his financial advisor that he planned to use the money he invested with her to invest in real estate. She didn't agree with this move, but it changed his life!Initially, he tried to buy a home for himself and lost $80,000 in earnest money. He didn't give up after this experience and he purchased a multi unit property shortly after. Rehabbing this property and managing tenants gave him valuable lessons that impacted his investing from that point on. Marcus eventually became a real estate agent and broker with a focus on helping first time homebuyers. He has also invested in more multi family properties in Seattle. In this episode, we discuss his basketball career, investing in Seattle, helping first time homebuyers, growing his portfolio and more. Highlights Deals don't always work out, but you shouldn't give up.
